Musician Andy Muridzo and ex-wife Mai Keketso continue to be at loggerheads, failing to reach a consensus after his ex wife Mai Keketso claimed $1 800 maintenance for their two minor children yesterday.
Appearing before Harare Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, deferred the proceeding to this afternoon so that a consensus could be reached between the two.
Andy Muridzo had offered $300 maintenance for the two children through his lawyer since he could not attend court because he had fallen ill, as reported by the lawyer.
However, Mai Keketso represented by Innocent Gonesed, refused the offer submitting that it wasn’t enough for her children’s upkeep.
”We would rather the respondent pays $ 1 000 as a substantial amount and anything less than that is unacceptable. We almost reached an agreement, but failed to come to any conclusion with respondent’s counsel.
If it pleases the court we may defer proceedings to tomorrow so that my colleague engages his client for a reasonable amount,” said the lawyer.
In her papers, Mai Keketso was adamant that she wouldn’t compromise the lifestyle that the musician had exposed to her and would continue living an opulent life.
Mai Keketso maintained that she would keep renting the $400 apartment that Andy left her in Damofalls.
She says she prefers the life the musician exposed her to and he continues to pay for his children’s education.
The hearing commences today at the Harare Civil Court.
